Due to the retirement of the current post holder the governing body invites applications for the post of ALNCO.
This is a time of change due to the introduction of the new Additional Learning Needs (ALN) and Education Tribunal (Wales) Bill. There will be a new system which will replace the existing legislative framework for special educational needs.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking ALNCO to lead our ALN department. Estyn recognised provision for pupils with additional learning needs as a strength of the school.
'The school has very good, well-organised systems for the early identification of additional needs. Pupils with additional learning needs benefit from good and varied targeted intervention strategies appropriate to their needs.' Estyn 2013
We are keen to hear from qualified ALNCOs as well as ambitious aspiring ALN leaders who feel ready for the next step in their career. This is a key position in the school, coordinating ALN provision, being part of a management team, promoting inclusion and leading a very committed team of teachers and learning support assistants.
The successful candidate will be a skilled and/or experienced energetic classroom practitioner and leader to work with our pupils who have a whole range of educational needs and will take a lead role on all aspects of inclusion across the school. The person we are looking for will have excellent management and leadership skills and a passion for educating young people and developing their full potential. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school with an exciting future implementing the pending changes in ALN legislation.
The successful applicant will teach intervention groups with no whole class teaching responsibility.
This post is subject to a DBS check.
The closing date for applications will be Friday 19 May at 9.30am, with interviews taking place on Wednesday 24 May 2017.
