Choosing the right school is a vitally important decision. All parents want a good education for their children but also want them to be happy, valued and secure. At Dylan Thomas Community School we believe that we can offer all of these things.

Since the opening of the school in September 2001, everybody at Dylan Thomas has worked very hard to create a close community of learners in which there is a clear focus upon raising standards for pupil achievement.

The school continues to gain an excellent reputation for the achievements of our pupils wether academic, sporting or cultural. The school is greatly valued by the community it serves and is an increasingly popular choice of prospective pupils and their parents.

A marked feature of the school is the happy, friendly, caring family ethos which enables our pupils to settle quickly. We believe that this is vital if pupils are to achieve the maximum of their full potential.
As a school we have high expectations of our pupils – effort and high standards of achievement are encouraged and expected. It is through such expectations that our pupils are able to set high targets which they go on to achieve.

Dylan Thomas is a community school in every sense of the word and seeks to achieve a partnership between governors, teachers, parents and pupils as well as with the wider community.

Pupils also gain from an outstanding programme of extra curricular activites that is extensive, rich and diverse. Along with the broad, balanced and relevant curriculum provided by the school, the out of hours programme serves to ensure that opportunities are available to enable pupils to fully develop their intrests and talents.

This web site aims to introduce you to our school but there can be no substitute for a personal visit. We would be delighted to show you around during a working day and answer any questions that you may have. Please telephone us for an appointment.

Your sincerely

Mr R. PHILLIPS
