    Cefn Hengoed Community School

    A distinguished past

    An exciting future

Cefn Hengoed Community School was opened by Alice Bacon MP, Minister of State at the Department of Education and Science in 1968 to serve the needs of the community on the east side of Swansea. It was built high on the hill in the Bonymaen and Winchwen area.

Since then it has looked out proudly over Swansea, a beacon lighting up the evening sky as the view beneath has gradually changed with the transformation of the valley. It has always been an important place in the lives of so many people and staff, pupils and their parents look at he school with great affection.

On these pages you will find out more about us, about who we are and about what we do.

You will also be able to catch up on all the latest news, especially about the new building developments which will transform Cefn Hengoed into a 21 Century School. It is an exciting time for us, as we watch a budget of about £9 million being used to enhance our work still more and guarantee a future for a school which means so much to so many.
