Eco Schools - We are Golden!

Eco

Our school is one of many that is participating in the Eco- Schools programme. This is an international scheme that is intended to make eco issues more relevant to the day to day lives of our children. The scheme is divided into eight key areas - Litter, Waste Minimisation, Transport, Healthy Living, Energy, Water, School Grounds and Global Citizenship.

We have achieved the Bronze and Silver standard and in 2012 we gained the top eco award, the Green Flag. We have been reaccredited for our hard work and in February 2017, we gained our newest green flag.

See our Eco Schools section for more info! The latest eco news will be in our Eco Blog!

Healthy Schools Award

Healthy Logo

Being healthy, safe, cared for, having a voice and influence are fundamental prerequisites to being 'ready to learn' and achieving true potential -  at any stage in our lives. Our aim is to support schools to help their children and young people to grow healthily, safely and responsibly and to become active citizens who do their bit for society and for the environment.

We are very proud to be a Phase 5 school and are working towards our ambition of achieving the National Quality Award in Summer 2017! Watch this space!

See our Healthy Schools section for more info!

Rights Respecting School

rrs_logo_std

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos. A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

Our Rights Respecting Journey has already been very successful and have already been accredited with our Level 2. This was awarded to us in February 2016!

See our Rights Respecting School section for more info!

International School Award  - 2015-2018

ISA

Terrace Road have been awarded the British Council’s prestigious International School Award in recognition of its work to bring the world into the classroom.

The International School Award is a badge of honour for schools that do outstanding work in international education, such as through links with partner schools overseas. Fostering an international dimension in the curriculum is at the heart of the British Council’s work with schools, so that young people gain the cultural understanding and skills they need to live and work as global citizens.
