Week Beg 19th September
This week the children have been recognsiing numbers to 10 and putting them in order in Maths. It would your child immensely if you could practise recognising numbers to 10 at home regularly.
The children have now been put into their Read Write Inc groups and are learning any sounds they do not know as well as how to blend the sounds together to make words. Please help your child to learn to read any sounds and words we send home.
This week we will also be starting our topic 'Glow and Glitter' which includes celebrations. We always start with looking at birthdays and will be making birthday cards and practising writing inside the cards. All the children need to be able to write their own name - please could you practise this at home.

We are very pleased at the way the children have settled into our Reception routines and we hope that they enjoyed their first week of full time school.
This week will be their first PE session with Mrs Eagle. Our PE session will always be on a Thursday. The children will need shorts and t-shirt for this session in a named PE bag to be kept in school. If you could make sure that your child can get their clothes on and off as independently as possible that will be a great help. We will, of course, help any child who needs it - school jumpers and socks are usually the trickiest items for them!
This week we will assessing the children on their sounds and blending. Following this, we will send homework home for you to help support your child's reading skills at home.
Our focus in Maths this week is counting forwards and backwards, as well as ordering numbers in the correct order. We will be giving the children counting targets in the next couple of weeks which we hope they will practise at home.
