Welcome to Pengelli Primary School.

Although small, Pengelli is an extremely busy and successful school. We pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer, the results we achieve and the atmosphere that permeates throughout.

Our children are at the centre of everything we do and this was reflected in our last ESTYN inspection report when inspectors stated that parents were right to place their trust in the school to meet the needs of their children.

Our school motto is ‘Your Best is Always Good Enough’ and we believe that this is reflected throughout the school where children are encouraged to give of their best academically and socially and through extra-curricular activities. We believe that by showing we expect the best the children always give of their best and their reward comes in the successes they achieve.

Visitors to the school constantly comment on the friendly atmosphere and the excellent behaviour of the children, a situation we are rightly proud of, but we never forget that our ultimate aim is for the children to achieve their full potential.

All staff are fully up to date with current developments in education and we work extremely hard to provide every child with their full entitlement. We provide a rich curriculum with the delivery of content and skills development that not only provides knowledge but also an ability to apply the knowledge learned. Our children are encouraged to offer ideas and respond to developments and we attach a great deal of importance to developing confident children who can contribute to the wider world. We work hard to develop self-assurance and self-belief and the confidence to move forward independently.

As parents/guardians you have a vital role to play in the education of your children and we appreciate the support we receive from you all and we always aim to keep you fully informed of any developments. Regular contact is positively encouraged and we want you to feel free to come and talk to us whenever you wish to discuss anything. We send out two newsletters a month and hold annual induction meetings with parents and two formal parents’ evenings a year.

We also have an extremely supportive PTA which makes a significant contribution to the success of the school but it won’t surprise you to learn that we are always looking for willing members to increase the level of support. The more supporters we have the less work individuals will have to do!

Our Governing Body is another vital part of the school community and we are fortunate to have a very supportive team who are also willing to ask challenging questions on your children’s behalf – this again feeds the school philosophy to be constantly self-evaluating and providing the very best for the children.

Please visit the website regularly as we endeavour to keep you informed of developments as they happen.

I look forward to meeting you and your family at Pengelli Primary School.

Yours sincerely,
Helen Talaat
