EIGHT READING BEHAVIOURS

8 Reading

The Eight Reading Behaviours sets out the main reading behaviours, the rationale behind them and provides teachers and support staff with activities and materials to introduce this reading strategy in class. The strategy can be used to improve reading standards and literacy across the curriculum.

The strategy has been implemented in primary and secondary schools and has proven to have a significant impact on pupils attitudes to reading, the quality and quantity of work produced and the standards achieved at the end of the year. We hope these materials will motivate you to try out some of these activities.
