NEW GORS LOGOCroeso! butterfly

Welcome to year 4, I hope you had a lovely summer. We are all ready for the exciting new half term. Here are a few reminders and information for you.

Please feel free to come and see me at a time that is convenient, if you have any questions. I am here to help!

Thank you!

Miss Symons

Children have a choice of engaging ‘Pick ‘n Mix’ homework activities to complete each week. Homework will be given out on Friday each week and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

Our topic for this half term is Dragons! It is a literacy based project and I am sure the children will thoroughly enjoy the exciting activities we have planned.

The children are expected to change their reading books themselves once they have read it. We listen to the children read throughout the week. We have guided reading sessions, which is where we read as a group. It is important that you try to listen to your child read every night. If you want to make a comment, please write in their reading records.

Times tables

please support your child to learn their tables at home. We can advise you on useful websites to use too. The children really enjoy using J2Blast, which they can use at home!

P.E is every Thursday. Please make every effort to ensure your child has a P.E. kit on this day. A t-shirt, shorts/joggers and trainers. We are focusing on gymnastics this half term.

Your child will be given spellings every Monday to take home and learn ready for their spelling test on the Friday. Please could you encourage your child to learn their spellings at home.

HWB- The children will continue to use HWB. Don’t forget that it can be used for work at home.

Class Dojo- We will be using Class Dojo. This week you will receive an invitation to join Class Dojo. This enables communication between parents and teachers. It is also a reward system for the

children, which motivates learning and teamwork. Please keep an eye on this, as many important messages and reminders will be sent out weekly.

At lunchtime, the children choose to eat either a packed lunch provided by yourself, or a school meal. School meals must now be paid for using the online portal sQuid. Please contact the school office for further information.

Parents Evening

A parental meeting has been planned for Wednesday 13th September and this is an opportunity for you to meet with me to discuss the year ahead. Further information regarding appointments will follow.
