NEW GORS LOGOYear 3/4 Newsletterbutterfly

November 2017 Croeso! Welcome back!

I hope you had a lovely holiday.  We are all ready for the exciting new half term.  Here are a few reminders and information for you.

This half term we will continue to explore Dragons; the children are really enjoying and have completed fantastic work around this topic. They had great fun creating dragon eyes, using different tones, patterns and shading. We will now go on to write reports on Komodo dragons; create moving dragons and explore maps of the Isle of Berk (the dragon island in ‘How to train a dragon’). In maths, we will be focusing on multiplication, fractions, angles and symmetry.

Reading

The children are expected to change their reading books themselves once they have read it. We listen to the children read throughout the week. We have guided reading sessions, which is where we read as a group. It is important that you try to listen to your child read every night. If you want to make a comment, please write in their reading records.

Times tables

Please support your child to learn their tables at home. We can advise you on useful websites to use too. The children really enjoy using J2Blast, which they can use at home!

Spelling

Your child will be given spellings every Monday to take home and learn ready for their spelling test on the Friday. Please could you encourage your child to learn their spellings at home.

Homework

Children have a choice of engaging ‘Pick ‘n Mix’ homework activities to complete each week. Homework will be given out on Friday each week and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

P.E.

P.E is every Wednesday. Please make every effort to ensure your child has a P.E. kit on this day. A t-shirt, shorts/joggers and trainers. We are focusing on tag rugby this half term.

At lunchtime, the children choose to eat either a packed lunch provided by yourself, or a school meal. School meals must now be paid for using the online portal sQuid. Please contact the school office for further information.

HWB

The children will continue to use HWB. Don’t forget that it can be used for work at home.

Class Dojo

Please keep an eye on this, as important messages and reminders will be sent out.
