Dear Year 3/4 parents,

Welcome to your child’s new class! I am very much looking forward to being your child’s class teacher for the coming school year. The children will be supported in their learning by myself and our teaching assistant, Miss Williams. This term’s topic is Dragons! It is a literacy based project and I am sure the children will thoroughly enjoy the exciting activities we have planned. The school day starts promptly at 8.50am, so please ensure you bring your child to the junior yard before this time. The school day ends at 3:20pm. At lunchtime, the children choose to eat either a packed lunch provided by yourself, or a school meal. School meals must now be paid for using the online portal sQuid. Please contact the school office for further information. Parental meetings have been planned for Wednesday 13th September and this is an opportunity for you to meet with me to discuss the year ahead. Further information regarding appointments will follow.

Kind Regards Mrs Raisbeck

PE is timetabled for Wednesday afternoon each week. This halfterm we will be developing our gymnastics skills. Please ensure your child brings in appropriate clothing and footwear to change into – t-shirt, shorts, jogging bottoms, trainers.

Children reading Oxford Reading Scheme books will be directed when to change their books. They will read with myself and Miss Williams during the week. In addition, we have guided reading sessions, where we read as a group. Children who have completed the reading scheme will choose books from the class library to read in school and at home. It is important that you try to listen to your child read every night.

Times tables

please help your child learn their tables at home. We can advise you on useful websites to use. The children enjoy using J2Blast, an online game which they can use at home, through their Hwb access.

children have a choice of engaging ‘Pick ‘n Mix’ homework activities to complete each week. Homework will be given out on Friday each week and should be returned by the following Wednesday.

Class Dojo

This week you will receive an invitation to join Class Dojo. This online system enables communication between parents and teachers. It is also a reward system for the children, which motivates learning and teamwork.

School Uniform

All children are expected to wear school uniform. Jumpers and polo shirts with the school logo are available from the office. All school uniform, including outdoor coats and bags, should be labelled with your child’s name.

Please feel free to come and see me at a time that is convenient if you have any questions, or ask on Class Dojo.
