 Dear Reception Parents,

it is with great pleasure that we take on the responsibility of teaching your child for the 2017-18 school year here at

Gors Community School.  We are very fortunate to also have the support of Mrs O'Donnell, Mrs Craggs, Miss Wright,

Miss Jones (am) and Miss Faligno (pm) to help make your child's educational journey as exciting and successful as

possible.  This newsletter provides general reminders regarding times, dates, clothing and routines.  If you have any

questions or concerns please do not hesitiate to speak with one of us.

King Regards

Miss Evans and Dr Broad

Start and Finish Times

The school day begins sharp at 8.50am so your child needs to be on the yard before this time so they can enter the school along with their classmates.  School concludes at 3.20pm, you are expected to pick your child up from the designated exit door at this time.

School Uniform

All pupils are expected to wear school uniform on a daily basis. School jumpers and polo shirts are available for purchase from t'e school office.  Please make sure you have clearly labelled all your child's clothing.  Please also label any outdoor clothing - coat, hat, gloves etc. that your child wears to school.

At lunch time your child can either eat a packed lunch provided by you or eat a school dinner.  If you are providing a packed lunch please ensure it is in an appropriate lunch bag.  School dinners must now be paid for usig the on-line sQuid system.  You will be provided with separate information relating to how to sign up to this system.  If you require further information please contact the school office.

Class Dojo

In the next week you will be receiving information about Class Dojo.  This is a web-based communication tool that allows teachers and parents to communicate with one another using an app that can be accessed using your phone, tablet or computer.

Home/School Back Pack

Please ensure that your child brings a small back pack or school bag each day.  this bag is very important because all notices and information will be put in this bag so that you know where to look each day.  This alleviates the opportunity for notices etc to be dropped or mislaid.

Parent Meeting

On Wednesday September 13th we will be having our first parent teacher meeting.  This meeting will provide you with an opportunity to meet us in person and discuss expectations for the year ahead.  This will also allow you to ask andy questions you may have about the classroom programme.

Fruit and Milk

Each day, all children are provided with milk to drink.  Your child also has the option of buying a fruit snack.  The cost for fruit is £1.25 per week.  Please have them bring their fruit money on a Monday morning.

Our main days for physical educatio are Tuesday (Miss Evans) and Wednesday (Dr Broad). Please make sure your child either brings or wears appropriate footwear for outdoor play on these days.  If your child wears trainers to school they are welcome to use these for P.E.
