Graigos Community Cafe
Graigos community cafe was opened on 1st February 2013. The opening was attended by Mrs Edwina Hart AM.
The cafe has been set up and will be run by pupils from Craigfelen School and they have created business plans and attended food hygiene courses.
We hope it will provide a much needed meeting place to bring the whole community together. We are delighted at how well the school bank has been managed by the pupils and received by parents and the community. It has encouraged saving, boosted numeracy and sparked an entrepreneurial spirit.
To get the project off the ground, pupils have been working with Communities First, and other groups to produce a business plan. Collaborative Communities, Regional Learning Partnership, Business in the Community and Enterprise in the Valleys to produce a business plan.
Throughout the project their are pupils involved, pupils manage the cafe and staff the cafe with a little help from some parent volunteers for the cooking.
Graigos is open from 8.30am until 9.30am every Friday morning.
