Right’s Respecting Schools

 rights respecting

This term the Rights Committee have been busy planning a coffee morning for parents to tell them about children’s rights and our rights respecting ethos. Led by our super ambassadors Kira and Ben, they planned an interesting meeting including a powerpoint presentation, a role play session, an interactive game with the parents and a question and answer session. They showed the parents the leaflet they had been working on, that had gone home to all parents.

Though we didn’t have many parents, it was a great success and

and the children were very professional in their delivery.

We are proud to be a Rights Respecting School. We worked hard to achieve our Level 1 RRSA in 2013 and we are currently working towards Level 2. At the start of each year, each class devises a charter which they use to ensure all children have their right to learn met.

The RRS Committee have produced a School Charter based on the rights they thought were the most important for school and this has been ratified by the School Council and Governors. The Committee have produced a leaflet for their parents explaining what Children’s rights are. Our friendly rights respecting rat, Rhodri can be seen around the school wherever there is a display related to children’s rights.

Kira Steele and Ben Phillips are our Super Ambassadors for the Children’s Commissioner for Wales, this year. They will have Special Missions to do each month for the new Children’s Commissioner, Dr. Mike Shooter.
