Congratulations to the year 7 football team for winning the Welsh Schools Cup Semi Final match against Olchfa yesterday (15th March 2017). The whole team has done fantastically well to get this far, playing some of the best schools from all across South Wales including Cardiff, Bridgend, Neath and Swansea.

The first half of the game was evenly matched, the team were faced with a very strong Olchfa defence and mid field. Joar Blanck saved some well-placed free kicks from Olchfa to keep the score 0-0. Finally we got a break with some great passing from Noah, Elliott and Jasper resulting in a fantastic goal from Ben Lloyd 1-0.

Second half Bishopston were a lot stronger, with Ben getting another 2 goals. One of which was from an amazing corner from Noah Lord who also got man of the match for an outstanding performance all match. Olchfa had a good few chances in the second half with a very strong team and managed to score one but Osian Thomas did a great job at keeping the defence tight and denying any more goals. The final score being Bishopston 3 – 1 Olchfa.

The boys will now compete in the final against the best North Wales has to offer. It’s being held in Oswestry (TNS FC) on the weekend of 6th or 7th May (exact time and date TBC). If successful in Oswestry, Bishopston will become the best school football team in Wales for their age group U12’s 2016/17.

The team and I would like to thank everyone for their support so far.
