DTH van der MerweWritten by KEVIN DAVIES on 3/9/2016 12:05:42 PM.
DTH van der Merwe, a Canadian rugby International who plays for the Scarlets region came to Bishopston School to meet students from Bear Creek Secondary School, Barrie, Ontario who are on a rugby exchange.
During the visit, the students watched a compilation of DTH’s 2015 rugby World Cup highlights, in which he became the first tier two rugby player to score in four consecutive matches.
DTH then answered questions in which he revealed that his rugby highlight was the 2015 RWC and winning the pro 12 with Glasgow Warriors last season.
Interestingly DTH named Captain Greene, a Canadian soldier and Afghanistan war veteran as his hero.
Captain Greene sent a personal message to DTH before the 2015 RWC and helped inspire him to his World Cup heroics.
DTH writes the name of Captain Greene on his wristband before every game to help to continue to inspire and motivate the Canadian international.
We would like to thank DTH for giving up his time and in being a fantastic role model for the next generation of Canadian rugby players.
